After drilling the four 1/2" holes in the drywall (as directed by the instructions), I inserted the fasteners per the instructions. After tightening them, only two of them held, the other two plastic inserts broke an the screws did not hold. Also the two wood screws that were provided to screw in from the bottom of shelf into the support dowels were too long and penetrated through the top of the shelf. Since I was screwing it in from the bottom, I was unable to see the end of the screw penetrate the top of the shelf. The shelf is now in place and looks good, however, I am afraid to put anything on the shelf because only two of the four fastener screws held. I am disappointed the plastic fasteners broke and the two wood screws were too long and damaged the top surface of the shelf.

I'm so sorry to hear you had so much trouble installing your shelf. We'd like to help, if we can. From your description, it seems like you used the wrong screws in the bottom of your shelf. I'm guessing you used the screws that were meant to go into the studs. Please call us and we can walk you through the installation steps and get you some extra anchors to make sure your shelf is secure.
