Beautiful shelves

The shelves are beautiful and well made. The only problem I had was with installation. The drywall anchors provided did not work for me. I called company support for assistance. At first I had trouble opening the drywall anchor after it was inserted into the wall using the setting key. I was told I could use a hammer to tap on setting key contrary to the written instructions. This helped to get the drywall anchors to open. The problem I had is that with some anchors is that the retention screw would not snug down when mounting the French cleat. For those that didn’t tighten down, the screw would just spin without resistance like it was stripped. Support told me they usually didn’t have this problem, but I could replace the anchor with toggle bolts. They offered to send me some toggle bolts but I preferred to pick some up at Home Depot so that my install was not delayed. I had 5 shelves to install. On the second shelf, out of three anchors, only one would tighten. However, unlike the first shelf where I was able to remove the faulty anchors from the wall, I was unable to remove these anchors. I didn’t want to mess up my wall trying to remove these anchors, so I tightened them as best as I could. The shelf ended up secure enough to handle the light load that would be on it. For the remaining shelves, I discarded the provided anchors and used only toggle bolts. I had one other problem with two of the French cleats. The lower outside corner of the cleat must be rounded so that the shelf will clear it when it is seated in the cleat and rotated downward into place. On two of the French cleats, the corner had not been rounded which interfered with the shelf rotating into place. Fortunately, I was able to remove the edge with a hand planer. The final result was outstanding and the shelves are beautiful. For such nice, well-built shelves, using cheap, unreliable anchors doesn’t make sense and lead to unnecessary install frustration. I recommend these shelves. They are great. Just don’t waste your time with the anchors.
